Echoing the sentiments of change was GH veteran Leslie
Charleson. "Now that we have had to drop storylines, I think
it's a change for the better. We have had enough of doom and gloom.
There has been no joy in Mudville. We need to lighten up. We need
love in the afternoon, and we need to smile."

Dealing with contacts in sports can be a hassle. Leslie Charleson
once had to re-affix a stray while riding a horse through Central
Park. Skiing presents its own set of adventures. She's better off
blind. "If you wear contacts while skiing, your eyes tear up
and the contacts fall out," Charleson explained. "Believe
it or not, I realized that I ski much better with both of my contacts
out. I couldn't see anything, but there was no fear [laughs]!"

"I've
had many "do's" which I would rather forget. One hairdresser
actually referred to my hair as frog fur (laughs). As far as Monica's
look goes, all I can think about is hair and what torture I've gone
through because mine is so fine and straight. There is not a hairpiece
out there that hasn't been on my head at one point or another. Either
clipped on, stapled in or sewn in. I have boxes of hair. It's true!"

Muscle
Girl
On TV, she plays a strong woman. So it's not surprising that in
real life, Leslie Charleson would own a muscle car. "The Cougar?"
she responds when asked about her hot wheels. "It's a 72 convertible
with a big engine. It was my first car when I moved to California.
Of course I was coming from New York, where if you had a car, you
were thought of as deranged." Not only is the car a classic,
but it's virtually maintenance-free. "I only have to make sure
I get it out to keep the battery charged." Not that he has a
problem taking the ol´ragtop out for a spin. "In this town,
every guy around is interested in cars," she explains. "So
if I need an ego boost, I just take the car out."

From an
article called "I've got a secret"
"When I was
doing live soap operas, I mistakenly pronounced hypodermic needle,
"hypadeemic noodle" and it went out on the air like that."
"That doesn't bode well for me now as a doctor on General Hospital,"
laughs Leslie. "I was on "Love Is a Many Spledored Thing"
and there were so many embarrassing moments like that. Once a doorknob
came off in my hand. Live television can be very un predictable."

Billy Warlock, about Monica's farewell scene with Jason:
"The reason the farewell scenes were so good is because they
were real. It was about two people saying goodbye to each other.
Leslie saw Steve come on GH as a young kid, watched him grow as a
person and an actor, so it was difficult to say goodbye. Les is always
real in her work. She's interesting to watch, even if she's making
sandwiches ...and that's the mark of a true professional."
